The Departed (20th Anniversary)

De jonge undercoveragent Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) infiltreert in het syndicaat van maffiabaas Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson). Terwijl Billy snel Costello’s vertrouwen wint, is de geharde crimineel Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) aan het werk bij de politie als Costello’s informant. Martin Scorsese’s The Departed (2006) is een Amerikaanse remake van de veelgeprezen Hongkongse misdaadfilm Infernal Affairs (2002). De film heeft een sterrencast met Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg en Martin Sheen. Scorsese won met The Departed - eindelijk - zijn eerste Oscar voor Beste Regie, terwijl de film ook de Oscar voor Beste Film in de wacht sleepte. Jack Nicholson kreeg veel ruimte om zijn personage Frank Costello vorm te geven en improviseerde er flink op los. Both Billy and Colin become entangled in their double lives, in which they are constantly gathering information about the plans and counter-measures of the organisations they have infiltrated. 
Martin Scorsese’s The Departed (2006) is an American remake of the critically acclaimed Hong Kong crime film Infernal Affairs (2002). The film boasts a star-studded cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg and Martin Sheen. With The Departed, Scorsese finally won his first Oscar for Best Director, whilst the film also took home the Oscar for Best Picture. Jack Nicholson was given plenty of scope to shape his character Frank Costello and improvised extensively. The Departed is regarded as one of the best crime films of the 21st century.
